    roprietorship is a structure wherein a single person has full control over the business. The identity of an individual and the business is the same. There is no mechanism provided by the Government of India for the registration of a Proprietorship. Therefore, the existence of a proprietorship must be established through tax registrations and other business registrations such as Service Tax, Goods & Services Tax (GST), Micro Small & Medium Enterprises Act (MSME), Shops and Establishment registration under the State Act. All the registrations for a proprietorship are done in the name of Proprietor which makes them personally liable for all the liabilities of the firm

    A single person owns the entire business and all the assets and property belongs to the proprietor. All the risk associated with the enterprise is that of the owner

    There is no requirement to share the profit or losses of business and everything belongs to the sole proprietor

    There are negligible legal formalities required to start a proprietorship firm

    Proprietorship business is not treated separately for income tax purpose. The tax slab as specified for an individual’s income is only applicable to the income of the business. The rates of tax are lower compared to other business structure like company and partnership. You will get the benefit of deductions when filing a combined ITR for individual and the business

    • Rent Agreement of the registered office should be provided if any
    POST INCORPORATION

    Maintaining books of accounts as per Indian GAAP

    Where the income is more than Rs 1,20,000 or total sales, turnover or grossreceipts are more than 10,00,000 in all preceding 3 years, such profession or businesses must maintain books of accounts and other documents which may enable the Assessing Officer to calculate their taxable income as per the Income Tax Act

    Bank Account

    Bank account has to be opened for Proprietorship

    If turnover is less than 20 lacs, then there is no need to get GST registration

    GST returns

    If GST registration done, then need to comply will all the return formalities

    Tax audit

    If turnover exceeds INR 1 Cr. in case of a business or INR 50 Lakh in case of a profession, is required to get its books of accounts tax audited
